Business Integrity: 5 Guys Burgers and Transparency
A vital characteristic in business integrity is the companies ability to be transparent. It comes as no surprise that the burger joint Five Guys Burgers is growing like bonkers, for they have a refreshing transparency that you wont see at a McDonald’s. I walked into one for the 1st time this weekend and was impressed immediately. (I will admit I had read an article about this company, which is family run, and I smelled integrity right away) They are different in that their potatoes, the grill and kitchen are open for all to see. Consumers today are hungry for this transparency and want good old fashioned up and out front honesty from businesses. This transparency really is a way of communicating to us; “We are not hiding anything, here is what we do, make, offer and we are darn proud of it. Take it or leave it, we are not trying to “sell†you, but simply offer our unique quality. Watch how we make it, inspect the ingredients, check the parts!†When you produce something of pure, honest, quality you have no problems opening it up and showing it. In fact, there is a certain pride there. Not in a boastful sense, but in a “let it out into the world†sense. The integrious person is like this as well, not afraid to be open for all to see, to inspect. They have nothing to be ashamed of or hide from. They do not have reason to hide their emotions, personality, and opinions. And what happens then naturally is an opening up of the heart, mind, and soul which exudes a beautiful, and positive essence that is completely unique in the world, since that particular essence only exists in that person. An Honest, pure, and complete quality in a burger, automobile, person… is very attractive and can be quite powerful.
