During a recent visit to the island of Kauai, HI I saw a t-shirt booth at a local market that caught my eye. I liked the message and feel of the brand, but I didn't have any cash and asked the owner if he accepted credit cards. He said "no, but take it. You can pay me later."I had a smile on my face as I had just witnessed a pure act of integrity. This is how I met Dave the Slave. I showed him no more reason to trust me than anyone else. I get the feeling he isn't doing this for the money; but is simply following his passion.

"Any fool can have courage. But honor, that's the real reason you either do something or you don't. It's who you want to be." This quote, part of the excerpt below, speaks to integrity and asks a very important question, what good is courage without honor? This is an excerpt from the scene where Michael writes an essay that determines if he will get the grade needed to play college football; a touching moment from the movie, "The Blind Side", written by Michael Lewis.

The more fixated we are on our winning the more challenging it becomes to live with integrity. The problem with expectations is that most often they are alligned with an external outcome, not a standard that we hold ourselves to. Integrity is not about results, it's about how you acted. You take the action because it is right, because you believe in it, and because your values demand it.
